About Us
Hand-Built Timber. No Kits. Built Properly.
I’m Jason Kyte, founder of Ontario Outdoor Rooms.
For over a decade, I’ve been building heavy-timber pergolas and pavilions designed for real outdoor use in Ontario. Over time, you learn what lasts — and just as importantly, what doesn’t.
Every structure we build is custom-designed, hand-finished, and installed on site. We don’t ship boxes or assemble kits. We work with full-thickness Douglas fir and build each structure carefully, with attention to proportion, fit, and long-term performance outdoors.
The result feels different the moment you stand underneath.
How We Work
Each project is:
- Built from full-dimension Douglas fir with real weight and presence
- Carefully assembled so alignment and proportion feel right
- Finished by hand so the wood can age naturally outdoors
The goal is simple: build structures that look clean and refined on day one — and continue to look good as they weather over time.
What Guides Our Work
Built, not sold
Every structure is custom built and installed — not ordered from a catalogue or shipped as a kit.
Material honesty
Texture is left intact so finishes absorb properly and the wood ages naturally.
Focused value
Your budget goes into the structure itself — not unnecessary extras or sales overhead.
Straightforward approach
Clear communication, fair pricing, and work done properly from start to finish.
Why I Do This
I enjoy working with wood, being outdoors, and building things people genuinely enjoy using.
Most of my work comes from referrals, and many clients return or recommend me to friends. That matters to me — and it’s why I continue to build this way.
Let’s Talk
If you’re considering a pergola or pavilion and want something built properly, I’d be happy to talk through your project.
