We build heavy timber pergolas and pavilions from full-thickness Douglas fir timbers. Handcrafted in-house, these structures withstand Ontario’s harsh weather—sun, snow, and freeze-thaw cycles. They age beautifully thanks to custom designs and proper installation.
Why We Use Douglas Fir?
Douglas fir offers exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and high density, handling heavy snow loads better than most softwoods. It resists warping, cracking, and decay when treated, delivering long-term durability for Ontario’s climate.
Why We Don’t Plane Timbers Smooth
Planed timbers create a closed-cell finish that repels stain—great indoors, but outdoors it cracks, peels, and fades fast. Our rough-sawn timbers keep grains open for deep stain penetration and natural, long-lasting beauty with minimal maintenance.
