Handcrafted Outdoor Structures In Southern Ontario
We build heavy timber pergolas and pavilions from full-thickness Douglas Fir timbers — handcrafted in-house to handle Ontario’s toughest weather: summer sun, heavy snow, and relentless freeze-thaw cycles.
Why We Use Douglas Fir?
Douglas Fir offers one of the best strength-to-weight ratios of any structural softwood. Its high density handles heavy snow loads with confidence and stands up to Ontario’s freeze-thaw cycles. Properly treated, it resists warping, checking, and decay — delivering long-term durability where it matters most.
Why We Don’t Plane Timbers Smooth
Fully planed timbers create a closed surface that looks perfect on day one but limits stain penetration. Outdoors, that surface finish often sits on top of the wood, leading to cracking, peeling, and fading over time. Our rough-sawn (full-thickness) timbers keep the grain open, allowing stain to absorb deeply and age naturally — resulting in richer colour and longer-lasting performance with less maintenance.
